A stunning antique french folk art wedding chest otherwise known as a Normandy coffret mariage box.
It has hand-painted folk art bird and floral motifs - with naive pomegranates (symbols of fertility and abundance) on a dark painted pine.
Thd top is domed. It no longer has it’s ironwork side handles. It is still a sturdy piece, despite the wood separating on the domed top. Some nails are visible in the corner where it opens.
